Located on State Route 20, Bouckville, on the summit of the historic 175-year old Chenango Canal in Bouckville has a 7-mile walking trail between Hamilton and Bouckville on the original towpath that was used by mule-drivers (hoggees). The canal is fed by its original reservoirs, built in 1834-1836. The Canal Cottage Museum, originally a barbershop in 1916, features reprints and descriptions of historic local pictures from the late 1800's - mid-1900's. It is open 10 am - 5 pm, May - October for a self-tour and is located on Scenic Byway State Route 20 and Canal Road in Bouckville. Contact 315-893-7910 or for a guided historic tour.

The Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum is located within the Old Erie Canal State Historic Park and Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor. During the 19th and 20th centuries, 96-foot long cargo boats were built and repaired on this site. The Gerrit Smith Estate National Historic Landmark was the lifetime home and office of wealthy abolitionist Gerrit Smith. Hundreds of freedom seekers for safety, and scores of abolitionists came to this site for support and re-dedication to the cause of antislavery. Smith was the major supporter of Frederick Douglas's publications and John Brown's raid at Harpers Ferry. The site was designated to the National Park Service Network to Freedom Underground Railroad site in 2002, and named to the Heritage New York Underground Railroad Trail in 2004. Open June - Sept. Tours of the Society's Museum are free and open to the public during open hours of Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and during the months of July and August on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Special tours of the other buildings need to be arranged ahead of time. The 1834 Jail is temporarily unavailable for touring because of restoration work.

Large collection of artifacts, photos, clothing, and memorabilia from shipmates of the USS Oriskany. Large collection of cruise books and photo albums. There are many small artifacts from the ship acquired during working parties, and outside we have the starboard anchor, the ship's bell and an A4E Skyhawk like the type which flew off the deck. In addition to USS Oriskany memorabilia, the museum has dioramas telling the story of the Battle of Oriskany. There is a large section containing memorabilia and artifacts from the village of Oriskany and its inhabitants. The museum collection was begun by the Battle of Oriskany Historical Society in 1966 and the society continues to hold meetings and care for the artifacts.

This museum covers over two thousand years of history. The museum contains items pertinent to the operation of a railroad, particularly those connected with the Schoharie Valley Railroad and the Delaware & Hudson Railroad. There are several rail cars on the premises, including an historic D&H caboose, and a combine from the Middleburgh & Schoharie Railroad, which have been restored. You can also view old photos of the yard, buildings and steam engines. The buildings, which have not been in use since the demise of the railroad, consist of a station house, freight house/engine house, weigh station, creamery and old mill. This site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Open Saturday & Sunday from Memorial Day thru Columbus Day, 12-4 pm.
