Looking for some last minute 4th of July plans? We understand – summer is now in full swing, which means the kids are out of school and antsy, and you're looking for a quick family getaway. Never fear, you don’t have to travel all over the state for the perfect outdoorsy experience: Try these Central New York Region "camping trips on a tank" for size.

Hit the great outdoors of the Central New York Region with your family – camping, fishing, s’mores around the campfire, the works! Camp in Greater Binghamton at Chenango Valley State Park, an ice age wonder with two kettle lakes to fish out of, or visit Anglers’ Bay Cottages & Marina in Oneida County which recently added new camping facilities and guided fishing excursions. Chenango County’s Bowman Lake State Park is bursting trails winding through forests to shady campsites and a sandy lakefront for swimmers. Play volleyball, horseshoes, tennis or hike at Cedar Valley Campground in Madison County, or stay at the Wintergreen Park in Canajoharie in Montgomery County, with picnic and recreational areas nestled amidst 72 acres of woodlands, and of course the spectacular Canajoharie Gorge. In Schoharie County, the Landis Arboretum, a 548-acre public garden overlooking historic Schoharie Valley, offers over eight miles of trails, as well as forty acres of trees, shrubs, and perennials from around the world – plenty of nature for your family to soak in.
